Kerala blog express season 3 kicked off with 30 bloggers from 25 countries. Tourism minister of Kerala Shri. Anilkumar flagged off the journey from Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala blog express is a two-week long road trip where the selected bloggers from all around the globe will get a chance to see the beauty of Kerala. The 30 participants for season 3 are selected based on their nationality, number of votes they received, social reach and the quality of their blog.
The two-week long journey that ends on February 28 covers major tourist destinations from Thiruvananthapuram to Wayanad.
Kerala blog express season 2 saw the participation of 30 bloggers from 21 countries and season 1 had 25 bloggers from 13 countries. This year, 30 bloggers were selected from a list of over 1000 registrants from 66 countries.
The food, accommodation and travel expenses will be borne by the Kerala Tourism and in return the bloggers will blog and share about their experiences and the mention the brands associated with the trip through their blogs and social channels.
The bloggers list include some of the noted bloggers – Aleksandra Swistow from Poland, Anita Hendrieka Dijkstra from New Zealand, Arnaud Caillou from France, Carla Boechat from Brazil, Farah Nadiah from Malaysia, Katerina Vasou from Cyprus, Matthias Derhake from Germany, Tsvetelina Tsankova from Bulgaria, Sarah O’Farrell from Australia, Veronika Tomanová from Czech Republic, Valentina Guenda Maietta from Austria.
25-year-old social entrepreneur from Mumbai who left the city life to settle in the lap of glorious Himalayas in Dharamsala, Nidhi Thakur is the lone Indian blogger in this year’s team.
“After two hugely successful editions, the response to the third edition of Kerala blog express has been remarkable. I hope that this year will be even more successful and will further help in promoting tourism,” the Minister said after flagging off the journey.
The bloggers will get to know about the sadya (meal), kathakali (art form) and village experience through this trip, said the tourism Director T V Anupama while introducing the bloggers at the flagging off ceremony.
Kerala tourism is famous for its innovative campaigns. The earlier campaigns have won many accolades for Kerala Tourism. The tagline (Gods own country) itself is popular among the domestic as well as the international travellers. These campaigns have attracted tourists from all over the world and has been one of the major source of income for Kerala.
The campaigns of Kerala Tourism has gained international visibility that made their website one of the most visited tourism sites of the country as well as the world. In terms of web traffic, the site was among the top 10 tourism websites in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East regions. On an average the site gets more than 250000 visits per month. They were the first ones to start a campaign on UK taxis which was a hit among the UK population. One good point to be noted is that even without a brand ambassador, these campaigns have been hit among the tourists.
