In a revolutionary move in India eCommerce space, Flipkart, India’s largest eCommerce company, launched its own tablet. The superior tablet is named “Digiflip Pro” produced and marketed by Flipkart India. The tablet is available in Flipkart and is available for purchase.
The digiflip is priced at Rs.9999 and available in two variants, white and black.
The move is in line with the strategy of Amazon, who is one of the largest eCommerce players of the world. Amazon started with books and later moved to produce its own kindle series of tablets. Flipkart which launched Flipkart first, its premium services is also similar to Amazon Prime. The Flipkart also started same day delivery in selected cities in India recently.
Is Flipkart moving the Amazon way and if so, will that be successful especially when Amazon itself has started its operations in India?
As Mahesh Murthy said, Amazon of India will be the Amazon India itself. No one can match with the expectations and service of Amazon!
But this is a strategic move by Flipkart. Flipkart is the largest eCommerce player in India and they have the first mover advantage as well. Flipkart holds a large amount of customer information and they exactly knows what their customers want. The millions of data will provide the much-needed analytical insights to Flipkart and these could help them to serve their customers well.

Flipkart app is available on both android and iOS. Flipkart launched ebooks in 2012 with less than one lakh books. The tablet is launched to make the customers read and purchase more ebooks as well. This is again similar to Amazon Kindle and their ebooks. Most of the kindle series are pre loaded with the books from Amazon store.
Lets hope that Flipkart will revolutionize the Indian eCommerce and be on the positive side of margins soon. Ultimately the investors who are invested their hard-earned money on Flipkart will ask for returns some day. Hope that Flipkart soon launches an IPO and hit the markets.
