Indian restaurant search and review site Zomato gets a new logo. Founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah, Zomato provides information for over 282,000 restaurants in 16 countries.
The new logo transcends languages and cultures. It captures the story of millions of meals and experiences being shared with a vast global community of people. The story of ‘people and food’.
It signifies our connection with those who share our passion for food. People who love, and live, to eat. The ones who diligently chronicle their food experiences so that others are able to make better choices. Because people who love to eat are always the best people – says Deepinder Goyal
Zomato was built in 2008 for the love of food. Since then over 30 million people use Zomato to search and share their stories of interesting cuisines and food. Zomato’s core content features include menus, photos, geocoded coordinates for restaurants, and the newly launched Collections. It also lets users find, rate, and review restaurants, as well as engage in social interactions with other foodies.
Zomato currently sees over 30 million monthly visits globally, across its web and mobile platforms, from people searching for places to go out for a meal, get home delivery, or catch up at a café. The highly targeted platform makes it convenient for restaurateurs to reach out to and interact with customers who are looking for dining options. The company is present in 120 cities across Chile, UAE, India, the UK, South Africa, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, and Sri Lanka.
Zomato recently started their operations in Toronto as well.
The best moments in the world are shared over a hot cup of coffee, a delicious meal, or a great bottle of wine. Cafés, restaurants, and bars have all been the original social networks, long before we had modern-day online social networks. Even as a team, we connect and share the most over a beer and a lamb kebab. Not over Google Hangouts.
We spend way too much time in front of our screens on the digital social networks, and we’ve stopped connecting with people in real life. But we believe that a good meal, along with good company, is where we find answers to all of life’s challenges. A bad meal, even with good company, takes days to digest. This simple belief about ‘people and food’ gives us our wings and purpose – says an excited Deepinder Goyal
Zomato has raised nearly $53 million in funding from investors like Sequoia Capital and Info Edge. (source: Crunchbase)
