2014 has seen large enterprises and startups competing to hire talents. According to LinkedIn hiring has been so hot that unemployment is hovering down at pre-recession levels. The top professional social network has revealed some of the hottest skills of 2014. After analyzing the data in over 330 million LinkedIn member profiles, here are the 25 hottest skills globally:
Some of the interesting findings from LinkedIn research is that:
- Recruiting was in the top 20 across most of the countries that LinkedIn researchers examined. In Brazil, it even came up as the 2nd hottest skill. This is both a great validation of the importance of talent acquisition as well as how much busier 2015 will be.
- STEM specialties dominate hiring priorities. It’s hard not to notice that most of the skills that made the list are related to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).This is a great indicator that this is where the focus will be in the next year, and that you will have to be quite creative to win talent over from your competitors.
- Marketing is back in vogue. Interestingly, another quite popular profession on the list is marketing. The focus of 2014 was on SEO/SEM specialists, campaign managers and digital marketers – it sounds like companies are focusing on improving the performance of their efforts and focusing on digital innovation.
